研究テーマ

（1）学習者の発話を誘発する教師発話としてのteacher Talkの役割の解

（2）EFL的特性分析とEFL環境における教育方法の解明

（3）バイオサイエンスの分野におけるESPの教材開発と指導法

　EFL環境における英語教室において、学習者が教師発話をより理解しやすくするための教師発話の方略、並びに学習者が発話を誘発するための教師発話の方略について解明を進めてきた。日本ではまだ未開拓の研究分野である、いわゆるティーチャー・トーク研究を推進してきた。ティーチャー・トーク研究は、元来ESL環境での研究分野であったが、それをEFL環境における研究として開発を行ってきた。

　EFL環境でのティーチャー・トーク研究を行うにあたり、EFL環境の特性分析の必要性があるため、同じEFL環境にあるタイの英語教育研究を行い、日本とタイの英語教育における共通項を明らかにする研究に取り組んだ結果、EFL的特性がある程度明らかになってきた。
　
ある程度明らかになってきたEFL的特性を踏まえて、今後は、EFL環境において効果的な授業構造はどうあるべきかを解明し、具体的な授業モデルの提案を進めていく。特に、英語授業における効果的な母語使用に焦点を当てた研究を進めていく。そのため、教育実践に携わっている教師と受講している学習者が協同で、効果的であった母語使用の事例を収集してデータバンクをつくりそれらのデータを共有しながら実践を繰り返す過程で、EFL環境に適した英語教育の方法論を構築していく予定である。
　
最近の研究では、バイオサイエンス分野におけるESP（専門分野の英語）の教材開発と効果的な指導法の構築を行っている。

　　I have been researching the strategies of teacher talk in English classrooms in EFL context, using the way of analyzing classroom discourse focusing on the interaction between a teacher and his or her students. For example, I have been clarifying how a teacher tries to foster students' understanding and communication through analyzing the classroom discourse.
　　In my study, a kind of idiosyncrasy, which both Thailand and Japan have in common in English classrooms, was discovered. That might be characteristics of EFL context. From an EFL idiosyncrasy standpoint, I try to pursue my study in order to create an appropriate style of teaching for EFL context, especially, focusing on how to make a native language use in English classrooms.
　　Recently, I am developing the teaching materials for ESP (English for Specific Purpose) in the field of bio-science and technology, focusing on selecting vocabularies and a style of language.
