Graduate School of Biosciences

graduate school

The Graduate School of Bioscience has created a number of advanced courses within a major corresponding to the departments and courses offered by the undergraduate school in an effort to train advanced bioscience professionals by improving their degree of specialization and cultivating far-reaching knowledge.

Fostering specialized knowledge in partnership with the Undergraduate School

The Master's Program combines Undergraduate School departments and courses into an Advanced Course in Bioinformatics and Molecular Biotechnology, Advanced Course in Genetics and Cell Biology, and Advanced Course in Bio-Environmental Science and Technology to facilitate highly specialized education and research.

Furthermore, offerings will be reorganized to meet the needs of graduates of the Department of Animal Bioscience and the Department of Computer Bioscience into an Advanced Course in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology and an Advanced Course in Integrated Bioscience and Biotechnology starting in the 2013 academic year.

The Doctoral Program further integrates these advanced courses into an Advanced Course in Bioscience and Technology to train researchers of the highest caliber to make key contributions to research on the front lines of bioscience.

Training advanced students with business-related knowledge

With graduates combining advanced bioscience knowledge with business sense and knowledge subject to the high expectations of not only industry but society in general, graduate schools have an important role to play.

The Institute's Master's Program seeks to endow graduates with business sense to allow them to approach problems in a way that meets the needs of the real world, preparing them to make broad contributions to society and the greater good. The Doctoral Program strives to instill researchers and technicians with exceptional and richly creative research and development skills so that they can assume leadership positions in research and educational institutions, from industry to academia and government.
